Musei Capitolini - Rome

Bigfoot does exist!
Haha...

Rome has so many wonderful museums scattered around the city but there are three that everyone must see. The Vatican of course, The Borghese Gallery, and the Musei Capitolini (Capitoline Museum). This is one of my favorites in Rome, if not the entire world.

The museum sits on top of a hill over looking Piazza Venezia on one side and backing up to the Roman Forum on the other. The central courtyard was designed by Michelangelo and is surrounded by 3 beautiful buildings and boasts a giant bronze statue of Marcus Aurelius on his horse in the center.

Inside the great halls of the museum are some of the most important and beautiful art of the Roman era as well as paintings from a more modern time in Rome. This museum has something for everyone and my favorites are the statues.

While visiting be sure to take the lift to the top floor and enjoy a cappuccino or prosecco while taking in some of the best views of Rome from the rooftop.

Over the years I've posted pictures from my visits to the Capitoline and this trip I took some more to share.

Enjoy!
