Katz's Delicatessen - New York City
A New York City landmark, Katz's Delicatessen, has been serving up delicious pastrami and corned beef sandwiches, and other deli specialties, since 1888. On this trip I had Katz's on my must eats list so I grabbed a taxi and headed there for lunch. I had the pastrami sandwich and loaded it up with mustard, just the way I like it!
Katz's is a traditional NY delicatessen with a casual and energetic atmosphere, and probably hasn't changed much in a 100 years. With all of it's notoriety, Katz's has become a place for locals but also tourists, so don't be surprised if there is a wait. This is the famous deli you've seen in the movies.
The pastrami sandwich will run you around $21 but it's worth every bite. Stacked high with lean pastrami between two slices of bread the meat is the star of the plate. You'll get some pickles and green tomatoes courtesy of Katz's with your meal too. It is a lot of food and you won't want to stop eating. Wash it all down with a cold beer and you've just experienced a great New York deli.
Enjoy!
