Montmartre and the Sacre Coeur Basilica - Paris France

On top of the hill of Montmartre in Paris sits the Sacre Coeur Basilica and is the focal point of a Parisian neighborhood that is a favorite of locals and tourists. Montmartre is a village within the large city of Paris that feels charming and quiet. This are is home to beautiful restaurants, boulangeries, cafes, hotels, shopping. It is also widely known for two of Paris' famous attractions, the Sacre Coeur Basilica and the Moulin Rouge.

The Sacre Coeur, or Sacred Heart of Paris, sits at the highest point in Paris and overlooks the entire city. Open daily, this magnificent structure is not to be missed when visiting Paris. On the weekends an outdoor market surrounds the Basilica atop the hill. Vendors selling delicious foods, wines, and other goods. The foie gras sandwiches and the raclette cheese sandwiches were amazing. So much culinary delight to try while you stroll and enjoy the views of the city.

Walking the streets of Montmartre you feel as though you have discovered classic Paris. Beautiful architecture is on every street. Stop to enjoy the outdoor cafes while you sip your coffee. The streets of Montmartre are quiet compared to most other tourist areas of Paris and automobile traffic is limited. There are so many Parisian food choices to taste in this neighborhood. I love the French sandwiches and bread!

Delicious!
The famous French macaroons.

Plenty of shopping in this neighborhood.

Ahh, the sweets.

The Sacre Coeur Basilica. Yes, there are a lot of stairs, but it is worth it!

I had the duck froi gras sandwich. Served from this gentleman wearing a French beret.

Another famous Paris landmark in the Monmartre is the Moulin Rouge.
This is one of my favorite areas of Paris. Put comfortable walking shoes on and stroll the neighborhood of Montmartre. You just might fall in love with Paris here.
