A view of one of the world's most beautiful beaches, Trunk Bay, on St John in the US Virgin Islands. This is the iconic view that you have probably seen thousands of times in magazines and on the Internet. On your way to Trunk Bay take time to stop at this overlook to take in the million dollar view. On many trips to St John I would bring my breakfast or lunch and have a little picnic right here on this spot just relaxing and watching the bay. You can get to Trunk Bay easily by taxi or rental jeep and it's just a 10 minute drive from Cruz Bay.

Trunk Bay is pure white sand and clear blue waters. This bay is calm almost every day of the year but can get a little crowded on some days. Don't let that stop you from seeing Trunk. It's one of my favorite bays on the island and I always stop here several days during every trip to St John.

Trunk Bay resides in the Virgin Islands National Park and is one of the few bays that offers amenities. Restrooms, snack bar, gift shop, and rentals of beach chairs and snorkel gear are available at Trunk. There is a $20 entrance fee to enter the bay that gives you unlimited entries for the year. I recommend this pass especially if you plan on going to Trunk more than once during your stay.

The water at Trunk Bay is warm and calm and has a healing effect for whatever ails you. In this hectic world it is comforting to know your can relax in a place like this and wash your stress away.

Most of the year Trunk Bay has lifeguards on duty but the reality is they needed as much to assist swimmers as they are to ensure visitors do not stand on coral or cause other mischief.
