The Musee Du Louvre in central Paris is one of the world's largest museums. Opening in 1793, the Louvre was originally a fortress built in the 12th century. Later it became the palace for French royalty.

The entrance to the museum is located at the pyramid. The lines to the entrance can get very long but it does move quickly. Once through the screening area tickets can be purchased inside.

The exterior of the museum is ornate. Early French royalty spared no expense in decorating the palace. During the French revolution the palace was given to the people and thus became the museum.
