12 miles north of San Francisco is the beautiful Muir Woods. Part of the Golden Gate Recreational Area the Muir Woods is home to the giant coastal redwoods.

These redwood trees grow to 300 feet tall and are as old as 800 years. It's a beautiful spot to visit and take in all of this nature. The park is run by the Park Service and there is an entrance fee.
