Beringer Winery - Napa California

Traveling through the Napa region we stopped in at a few wineries, one of which was the Beringer Winery. We took the tour of the winery that was narrated and included sampling the Beringer wines.

The winery was founded over 130 years ago by the Beringer brothers. They chose the Napa valley to grow their grapes and produce their wines.

These French oak barrels contained the wines of the Beringer's back in the 1800's. Housed in caves that the Brothers dug into the hillside to keep the wines at just the right temperature.

These barrels were hand carved and are now relics of the Beringer heritage.

 This room is is used for private parties and is set deep into the hillside.

Beringer's private reserve. Hundreds of bottles of wine dating back to the 1800's.

Today the caves are not used to house or produce the Beringer wines it is all done in controlled environments on a much larger scale. Here you get a sense for how large the caves are and how far back into the hillside they had dug them.
